Review on πŸ”… Levoit Ezra Himalayan Salt Lamp - Hand Carved Natural Himilian Hymalain Pink Salt Rock Lamp with Metal Housing, Touch Brightness Dimmable Control, 3 Bulbs, UL-Listed Cord & Luxury Gift Box by Richard Gross

The broken glass shower ruined my experience with another impressive product.

I really wanted to like this Ezra lamp. I was very pleased with its arrival and I have several other Levoit products (including a filtered water jug and humidifier which I would rate excellent) and I can vouch for their normally high quality as a brand. This lamp seems very similar to other Levoit products I own - solid, well made, high quality materials sold at a fair price. The lamp is quite heavy and the salt crystals are real and sit well inside. As far as I can tell, the lamp itself works as it should. This review isn't so much about the lamp itself. My particular concerns stem from some odd omissions in the packaging and shipping process. The lamp comes *extremely* well packaged in a sturdy red gift box with heavy foam padding. it doesn't seem to move an inch inside, and the salt crystals are contained in a plastic bag that's carefully packed inside the holder, as well as a 4-sided hard plastic sheet that hugs the walls of the holder. it is very stable. Problems arise from 2 extra bulbs (glass and filament, old school), each in its own tiny thin cardboard box as far as I can tell, not attached to anything and with a too thin piece of foam rattling on one side of the box holding it side dripping. A piece of styrofoam is also carefully crushed, as if it had been pushed into the box in an unnatural way. My god, I can't understand how the person who packed this thought they would be fine, but these replacement bulbs arrived completely smashed - dusty, I might add - and pulled the bulb right out of the box without even realizing there was a replacement, shards of glass hit absolutely *everywhere*. There was also a lot of glass in the base of the metal lamp, so I believe the bulbs broke during packing or shipping long before they got to me. I was amazed that this was even possible as all the other elements of the lamp seemed so well made and packaged and seemed so well thought out. Dust. I particularly regret opening the box on my bed, from which I had to carefully pick out the broken glass, as I didn't even think that opening such a package would be possible, but I guess the joke is on me . As far as I can tell there was no way to prevent glass from spilling all over the place due to the careless way the bulbs were packaged and the position they were in the box. I think I received a box that wasn't packed properly as only one other review mentioned such a broken glass situation, but I'm hoping for better quality control in this day and age. It is very disappointing to receive a product that is fundamentally flawed from a brand that I have otherwise had a lot of trust in and have had nothing but pleasant experiences with. The lamp itself is great and appears to be superbly designed and I expect it really is up to the Levoit standard. On the other hand, the decision to switch on two very fragile lightbulbs so casually and casually is not right.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
