Review on Charmont Charcuterie Platter Labels for Serving by Brian Page

Interesting and cute design, but is it really functional?

This set is well designed. The slate is neatly carved and the wood is beautifully painted and has a soft, interesting scent. Small slate markers for food labeling are a neat idea, and "crayons" did the job, although given slate's rough surface you don't want to try to write a product exposition - keep it short, write. Capital letter. The slate insert fits well into the recess in the wood. It could be a little tighter - it might slip out when the paddle is tilted vertically. The recessed groove in the wood, chiseled to make room for the slate, is a bit rough and uneven - it's not smooth like an exposed wood surface, but it's not meant to be exposed either, so maybe that's ok. There is a difference of about 1/8 inch from the surface of the wood to the surface of the slate. My main problem is related to the functionality of the design. First, the paddle has a small diameter - you can't comfortably place too many items on the surface, and yet guests can maneuver between items to get something. The significance of the use of slate is not clear. Maybe so you can slice the cheese without worrying about nicks and scratches on the bottom. But having cheese and meat products limited to the slate makes them even more crowded. Well, maybe I don't see the possibilities. No deposit. The manufacturer's website can provide advice on the best way to use the item, how to clean it, etc. But when I tried to access the website, Safari gave me an error message warning me of a possible fraudulent website, and I did it don't do it There is no other place. The set is very well packaged to avoid damage in transit and the packaging is elegant enough to make a good gift without repackaging. However, you'll have to destroy the packaging to retrieve the items, and then you'll likely be stuck in terms of future storage - you'll probably need to keep the paddle and slate separate from the slate signs and crayons, hopefully you remember where you put them and hopes that the slate insert will not fall out and break at some point. In general, a well-executed, but somewhat flawed and not fully thought-out design. The item is made in China. I received this item for free. as a Vine reviewer. My review is honest and objective as if I paid for the product.
