This product has many flaws. First, you can't see the screen underwater because it's not bright enough. You also won't be able to see the screen if you're outside over water on a sunny day. And those are probably the two most common situations in which you will use this camera. There's no viewfinder, so seeing the screen is even more important for this camera than for many of its competitors. Also, since the screen is invisible, you can't tell if the camera is on or not. The button to turn it on is tricky and it's very hard to tell if your press is registered or not. The same goes for the button to take a photo. You will end up with about 1/4 of the photos you intended to take. The shutter button sometimes beeps when taking a picture and sometimes it doesn't. This forces you to try about 20 times to take a picture. Very unreliable. There is a light on the "on" button, but it's so dim that I wonder why they waste materials on it - you can only tell if it's on when you're in a dark room. Finally, the camera wasn't designed not to have huge transforming drops on the screen when you pull it out of the water to take a picture, so many of my photos were completely distorted by large drops of water in front of people. faces. I found the camera worked well in pools, which are usually well lit underwater, allowing you to see the screen when the camera is underwater. But then take it out of the water and you won't see anything. And after two years and less than 15 rides, the screen wouldn't turn on at all. Now, in order to take a picture, I have to point my finger aimlessly and hope that the picture will turn out well. And you can't check how the photo looks until you remove the memory card. Basically it's like a film camera without a viewfinder. And the last time I pulled out the memory card, it was raw. Luckily he didn't appear to be hurt. I called Nikon support and they said I had to send it in, so they even told me a) if they CAN fix it and b) how much it would cost. Although I tend to. I would risk the shipping cost if they can return my camera to its original precarious and barely working condition for an ADDITIONAL undisclosed price and sometimes take water drop covered photos that you can't verify until you are in the room. I think they should have a repair center in Manhattan that I can visit for the cost of a round trip with my unlimited monthly subway pass. I'm spoiled, but the convenience of having retailers is one of the main perks that Manhattan residents pay such a high premium for. In general, for all customers, regardless of their location, the least they can do is pay for the shipping cost - it's not the customer's fault for choosing not to have a repair location in the largest city in the US or elsewhere set up. the place where their customer lives. So I figured I'd rather just save on the shipping cost and additional repair costs to put into buying a better camera. After this unpleasant experience, I will not go back to Nikon for future cameras. And I accept recommendations for a new underwater camera.
