Like many of you, I've probably been looking for the perfect water bottle for a few decades. Every time I think I've found it, there's a glaring error. It leaks, doesn't hold up well, the hole is impractical, too wide for a cup holder etc. etc. etc. I started to think I was looking for a unicorn, something that doesn't exist in my reality. And then came Prime Day. I didn't want to buy anything, but I looked anyway. And there was the Simple Modern Summit water bottle, among others. Normally eighteen dollars and even cheaper on a prime day? Uh, I'll try. Worst thing that can happen is that it ends up in a closet that I, like everyone else, call the Graveyard of Disappointing Water Bottles. narrow coasters. It's actually a really good size as there's enough water for hours without being too heavy to comfortably carry in one hand. The double insulation is extremely effective: it keeps cold water cold for 24 hours when the car is exposed to direct sunlight during a ridiculous heat wave. Maybe even longer, but I finished my test after 24 hours, because let's not laugh. I also often drink tea in it, which stays hot - very hot - for many hours, including overnight. Be careful with hot drinks: I don't close the lid for about ten minutes so it's cool enough not to burn my tongue (again) before closing it. I love the different lids that come with the kit, including the pants lid, which you can only get from the company for a shipping cost. Unfortunately, my order didn't come with any other cover colors apart from black, but still. I have a bottle washer (I went with the OXO water bottle cleaning kit which is cheap and comes with three pieces for all bottle parts). because otherwise it is almost impossible to clean it effectively. The bottle body is NOT dishwasher safe, but the lids are. Okay, I've wandered around long enough. In summary, not only is this bottle The One, I cherish it so much that I have bought a second one in blue and have recommended it to several people. All of this and I've only had it for less than a month! As always, I'll update if my mind changes or if it suddenly hits me. Update seven months later Revain emailed me about this review so thought I'd update my thoughts. I still use one or both of my bottles daily and am still very happy with it. In fact, just yesterday I was touting the virtues of bottles to a friend. One of my puff lids broke but I tended to hold it at its weakest point so I'll take that against myself and against the lid. Everything else is still great. Updated over two years later (December 2020) These bottles are still the only ones (reminds me of Shania Twain's catchy tune for GenX peers)! I've dropped each of them multiple times so they don't look perfect anymore but they work the same way. I still recommend them to anyone looking for a water bottle or travel mug, and the wide range of colors available means you won't get bored. Still five stars!
