It's very easy to trim if needed, just make sure you crop it to a size that gives dispersion. However, please note that after trimming, the belt buckle can easily damage the outer fabric if you have to put it on and take it off regularly. I would only remove the buckle as I have metal detectors at work and that should be annoying. The buckle will shift or fall off from time to time because the fabric is not so good and will slip. Overall, however, the strap is good enough for regular use, it holds up more than well enough, and the micro-adjustments offer a lot more comfort than a regular strap. Unfortunately, the paint on some buckles is easily scratched or rubbed off. Despite some flaws, I still wear this belt almost every day. I just wish it was a little cheaper given the few quality issues I've had, but I don't regret my purchase in any way.
