My D3300 takes great pictures but with this flash...

I love this flash. My D3300 takes great pictures, but with this flash I can take amazing pictures almost anywhere. I have to admit I haven't used the remote yet as I already have it, but plan to play around with it soon to see if the range has improved at all. Also, the softbox's cone feels thinner than I'd like. It's plastic, and I have some concerns about long-term use with constant folding and unfolding. I would downgrade my rating to 4 stars because of this, but to be honest it still works and hasn't shown any signs of use so far. Flash performance is excellent, range and refresh rate are good. I use rechargeable (Sanyo Eneeloops) batteries which I know are "no no no" but to be honest I can do repeated shots with very little duration in between (2-3 seconds). Haven't tried it yet, but I suspect if you want to bridge that gap you can use regular batteries. If you like rechargeable batteries then I recommend Eneeloops (longevity, cycle count, charge retention, etc.). The flash mechanics are superb: step-by-step click positions are firm but not rigid, making it easy to lean in to the perfect height and snap a shot. Is that a professional flash? Of course not, but it's a fantastic addition to the amateur or semi-professional tool kit. It's great for portrait photography (especially if you have extra flash/light sources). If you're shooting weddings, parties etc you might want something more powerful, with even faster frame rates and more control, but for me this flash works great.
