Made in China. Has the legendary AM radio chip from Sony. Holds 2 AA batteries. This little gem picks up AM stations very well. Note that radio reception is affected by many factors. Your results may vary. I'm getting some 10,000 stations that didn't exist before! Unlike other radios I've tried, even low power local stations sound clear. FM works too. If you have one, wrap a few turns of antenna cable around the radio and pick up some shortwave stations through the FM coils! I only listen to NPR on FM but other stations work as well. Everything is good not bad. Forget other brands. AM just doesn't work for them. So good I bought three! Get one before they go away. SONY continues to produce radios! November 12, 2018 Addendum: I heard 3! AM stations right this morning! Please note that weather and weather play a big part in reception. Those 10-kilowatt stations in Arkansas, about 135 miles away, continue to be picky. No chipset degradation! But three stations are stacked on top of each other - that's wonderful! Turn the radio to "zero" which you don't need. AA elements last a LONG time! You can count on several weeks of 7-8 hours a day! Excellent! If you're a DX, get this little beauty!
