First of all, I would like to say that I have tried several children's stone collections. This one is definitely my favourite. My kids found the taped collections, taped to the side or in pre-labeled plastic junk bins, to be of only temporary interest. Fallen rocks or lab-generated stains of paint looked too cheap toys. Better to have a bunch to touch, explore and play detective in identifying items. Perhaps we'll move on to larger individual specimens - now that we have the knowledge of Little Rock. I ordered two boxes for my two children. Both arrived within two days. I was a little apprehensive about the small package which is the size of a large pencil case. However, once I poured the entire batch into a quick-flush colander, everything started looking better. (The blue screen image shows the contents of a box) The contents of a box appeared to be noticeably smaller in every way: smaller geodes, 2 shark teeth (5 in the other), 1 arrowhead (2 in the other), and smaller rocks in almost every category. But even the smaller batch was very good in my opinion. The real test was the reception of my first graders and fourth graders: thumbs up! Although my fourth grader disliked what we call "garden rocks" (because we can find them in our backyard), my first grader loved and cherished them all. As can be seen from the scattered piles, the largest is a pile of stones 20-30 meters high. I'd rather pay the same price without such a fountain pen. It's okay: the courtyard stones are in the courtyard now. I would say 70-80% of the stones are smaller than a dime, but the variety and remaining large stones (1-2 inches) make up for it. See photos of our favorites from both boxes. The shark teeth and arrowheads were a fun touch. Didn't see any fossils or fossil excrement. I may have mixed up the product description when I bought it. My lover, my first grader, liked the magnetic stone. My fourth grader, of course, chose crystal and "gold". After reading the reviews I was ready for the big action of cracking the geode. Practically crushed (even under my mother's puny muscle). However, the children were happy and I took two or three large pieces for each child. The pictures of the geode are 2 cracked geodes. I'm done, these boxes were the perfect size to start my stone collection. They fit quite nicely in some used wooden cigar boxes. discussion and made her grandfather, a science teacher, very happy. I will definitely be checking out what other products are on sale and I highly recommend this product.
