My Makita 3/8" cordless drill fell down the stairs and broke the handle in half just above the battery. I removed the rubber cover, where the handle broke in half the handle holding the battery broke off completely the only thing holding the bottom to the top was the wiring harness the bottom hung with a half inch break gap around the plastic I applied two part epoxy to the brake, above and below the brake I bonded the two halves firmly together and left on.I used the first layer of epoxy just as a base coat, then I took drywall tape with fiberglass mesh and three layers of mesh tape around applied the break in the handle I applied the second coat of epoxy which is the first coat over the fiberglass he drywall tape was. I let the second coat of epoxy let the underside of the resin dry overnight. Finally I applied a third coat of epoxy which was the second coat of epoxy over the drywall fiberglass cloth. I applied a second coat over the mesh to thicken the layer covering the mesh. It was a week ago. I have used the drill several times since the repair. The drill works great, looks very solid and holds up well. The 3/8" case itself is hard plastic. I think this epoxy is perfect for this application with fiberglass mesh for added strength. I used this epoxy for strength only, not aesthetic reasons. very happy with the end result. I think he gave this Makita 3/8" cordless drill a makeover. Otherwise this drill would have been thrown in the trash.
