The Mighty Have Fallen

I've been wearing the Sperry A/O for probably 15 years now. My previous pair lasted 7 years and treated me very well but I had to throw them away as the sole of the shoe fell apart completely. Although the leather was perfect for refinishing, Sperry doesn't offer their soles for refinishing pumps, which is painful and discouraging as after 7 years the leather was incredibly well shaped and cracked on my feet, super comfortable. I bought a new pair here and wow these are not the shoes I loved and wore for almost a decade. The size doesn't fit, I ordered one size smaller than my previous pair, but somehow they seem larger than my previous pair. The quality of the leather is absolutely terrible compared to before. The color of the Sahara is completely different, much lighter and far less flattering than even the pictures here. They are completely reminiscent of cheap sold-out shoes from Marshalls or TJ Maxx. I will return them. It's sad to see an icon of Americana fall so far and so suddenly, especially when it comes to the original pumps. I will have to move my business elsewhere as I demand the quality that Sperry used to have.
