At first don't be discouraged by the idea that this radio has no display! Compensates for this comfort of an acoustic voice warning! Having both the GD-77 and RD-5R, I decided to try the GD-77S and have never been disappointed. The audio and signal report is excellent for analog and digital communication. The reception volume is loud, full of tone and not at all "tinny" like some others. Programming was easy and I found no problems exchanging code modules between radios when I got this 77S on the air. Because of this simplicity. You only need to verify that the programming is correct before using the 77S in the field as it is not user programmable. And thanks to the strength of the case, I now use it as my everyday walkie-talkie, including at work and on hikes. This radio feels better in your hand! The battery life is remarkable, especially when the radio is in standby mode. It's great to have a higher gain antenna included, especially if you're in peripheral repeater coverage areas or using the radio in simplex operation. All in all, this radio has great potential for DMR, digital and analog communication. And for the price, this radio is worth it!
