Review on 🐾 High-Quality Muttluks All Weather Boots for Small Dogs - Black Shade by Gina Clark

Last winter I started walking our Labradoodle (Jenna) in the snowy hills of western Massachusetts. Although she liked to jump in the snow, she didn't like it when her paws crunched. I could see that it was obviously uncomfortable. When looking for booties, I looked for a cheap set and started reading reviews. As it turns out, the two most important factors (as far as I can tell) are fit and consistency on your dog's paws. Muttluks come in a variety of sizes to fit your dog's paws and have strong Velcro straps that you can twist to keep them from slipping off their heels when they get up and start walking. The upper cuff fits close to the shin and provides protection from snow. Although this is her first winter with them, she's gotten a lot of use from them and now they're "broken in". The leather outsole has some abrasion that is useful on slippery surfaces including ice. My only comment is that the top cuff threads have come loose from heavy use. A cut from a sharp pair of scissors ensured, I assume they won't come apart with constant use. They're a bit more expensive, but worth the money in my opinion. PRODUCT UPDATE: Quick update on this product: Unfortunately I used two sets of these boots last winter. Although the 2013-2014 New England winter was one of the harshest on record, it didn't stop my Labradoodle (Jenna) and I from getting through it. If they went outside through snow, mud and frozen mud an average of two to three times a week, they caused them severe damage. Black paint spattered the yellow midsole, toe seams were coming undone on several boots, and the Velcro and sock top were perpetually frayed. I used duct tape to hold the loose stitching in place, but it only took a hike (two max) before I had to patch it up again. Remember, these were NEW at the start of the season! I contacted Muttluks support and they sent me a brand new kit right away! Hooray! They lasted less than the original set! :-( Boo! Great people and customer service, product not as strong as originally intended. Disappointed overall, will be looking for a pair that can hold their own against both Jenna and New England next winter.
