I needed a pair of water boots that would be good for hiking Maui and these shoes were perfect for some of the trails we did. Excellent grip on wet rocks, muddy patches and steep ups and downs. They also provided enough support for 4-6 mile hikes. I bought a black pair in size 8 which is my usual size. I have a bit more room in the toe box since I didn't wear socks on the hike (didn't want to splash around in wet socks) and at first I thought I might need to go smaller; but the shoes fit well (fit the ankle well and the laces helped) and my foot never slipped in them. Great shoes. Excellent price. Highly recommended.
