A new twist on finger weaving

I think the most important thing about a craft kit is that you can pass it on to your kids and they can complete the project without the help of an adult, giving the adult a few minutes of peace. I have children aged 5, 10, 12 and 13 so it can often be difficult to find kits that meet those criteria but aren't too childish for older ones. This set is certainly too complex for a 5 year old but my older girls had no problem with it. If you haven't already, I would suggest you check out the videos listed above the reviews. . . It has some annoying music but it helps to clear up the instructions to see how it's done. Anyone else wondering that kids craft videos are always made with adults? Because of this, it's difficult to judge how the sets are truly age appropriate. This set includes everything you need except scissors. It's basically what we used to call "finger weaving" with yarn (weaving the yarn around the fingers and then folding the fabric over the top loop) except you're using a finger-sized slotted felt. It actually speeds up the whole process and creates a thicker and softer quilt-like fabric with a looser weave. The resulting rabbit is soft and cuddly and holds together well, but even with a 13-year-old child, adult help was required. The real plus is that they discovered a creative new way to make stuffed animals - fleece is cheap and you can cut the strips and then create new creatures of your own.

Pros
  • SENSOR EDUCATIONAL TOY. Both parents and children will benefit from this arts and crafts project. Puppy making a bow with his fingers is a fun craft that kids love. This sensory crafting experience teaches kids not only new crafting techniques, but also instruction-following and hand-eye coordination in a fun and creative way.
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
