After several hundred hours of operation in a small basement in a seasonal home, this unit began to smell like burnt electrical insulation. Following the instructions, I checked the condition of the ozone generator plates and found that one of them was broken and stuck to other electrical components. The block sat quietly on a shelf, connected to an intermittent timer. The lifespan of the ozone generator is estimated at around 5000 hours. The only "rough treatment" this unit underwent was upon delivery to me (where shippers are known to play "basketball" with packages). It may have been defective at the time of receipt, although it appears to have given off some ozone, not necessarily to the extent that I would have thought possible for a device of this claimed power. Revain agreed to take it back and refund my purchase price. I will replace it with another brand device as I will be afraid of fire with this device.
