This drive was purchased to replace a SanDisk Extreme SSD for PlayStation 5. The original drive was fine, but this drive claimed to be faster. The first thing to accept about these discs is that the number on the box is the ideal scenario. It's unlikely that this will ever be your number, and most of these drives are only rated for 1050MB/s in "normal" configurations. This drive runs much warmer than the SanDisk, but that's to be expected when you replace the rubberized finish with an aluminum case. The SanDisk Extreme Pro claims the same 2000 MB/s but in a much less attractive package. I couldn't compare this model to this one, but I think they are much closer. This may be partly because Western Digital is SanDisk's parent company. As far as the stock line goes, the improvement is enough for me to be happy with swapping drives. This drive looks much better next to the console. There's also a small detail that's more important for those with a vertical mount. The cables for this drive are significantly longer. The old drive had to be placed on a stand or placed upright, often without concern that it would not stay in place. This drive has enough cables to connect to a USB-C port and still gently set the drive on its rubber feet. A separate USB-A cable is included instead of a cable conversion adapter. This allows you to leave the cables connected to the PS5 and PS4 that share the drive and just move the drive between them. You'll really appreciate it the first time you lose an adapter. Another important factor is price and durability. If you want to save a few bucks and not worry about drive splatter, then SanDisk drives are probably your best bet. If you use it in a controlled environment and care about the aesthetic aspects, then it's hard not to love this drive. In all honesty, the disc looks like a supply crate next to the console. It's hard not to admire him. However, don't forget to buy it on sale. The MSRP for this type of device is absolutely absurd.
