This is a REAL desktop stand. Most others either don't have the same range of motion or are too expensive. I spent a lot of time evaluating this because I'm a computer programmer and use my computer all the time. I have bought this stand 3 times, once for the office, once for a friend/colleague (who is now buying one for the home) and one for my desk at home. This is really the way out. Even if you don't have three monitors, get this one because it's only marginally more expensive ($10?), two-handed, and the stem is much taller. This means you can REALLY position the monitor at eye level, where it should be, without straining your neck when looking down. Can hold most 30" monitors fairly well although only advertises monitors no larger than 27". In fact, for a heavier monitor like the HP or Dell 30 inch, it's still very good. ported and secure. This is only for a heavier monitor, it might be a little harder to set up because you need to streamline things a bit. But it's ok and so cheap compared to most other crap. If you plan to use this monitor stand and accompanying monitor with your laptop, I highly recommend the included "Laptop Mount" (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CM9NG1W/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_41). You can take your hand off this stand and place it on the stand's post below the hand holding the monitor so that the laptop is actually at the same height as the monitor (not too high).
