Beautiful rich color; warm, cuddly soft + very long -- not very high quality, but very nice.

This is a lovely scarf - it's quite long so there's plenty of fabric to wrap it in different ways or just leave the ends open (my favorite look). I'm 5'4" and the ends (including the tassels) come almost to my knees, which makes it great to wear with a dress coat. It also looks good with more casual jackets. I ordered maroon, that is a bold, vibrant shade that I think pairs well with many pieces in my cool-weather wardrobe (I prefer black, gray, and navy blue.) The scarf measures 16" x 78", so it's wider than a regular bandana, but not as wide as a scarf or a quilted scarf and is lightweight so it's not bulky at all like some styles. It's soft and warm. The product description says it's premium wool from Mongolia or Australia, the wool seems to be of high quality but I have to say that the construction of this scarf is not quite on par with some well-known premium brands Finished with nice fringes but the side edges look sharp at first but are a bit une on closer inspection and have a very clear tendency to take the pill. The scarf I received has a small defect, about 60cm long and right in the middle of the scarf - it looks like the thread has been pulled out but it isn't. It seems that one thread did not separate from the others or somehow shed during weaving. However, the flaw isn't noticeable at all as I fold the scarf right there and it doesn't go all the way to the ends. I have a scarf in a different style than Lani-Lani and it has no flaws, so the flaw was probably something that only happens sometimes and in this particular case escaped quality control attention. This wouldn't stop me from buying other products from this brand as they offer a quality guarantee. I don't like the large logo label sewn to one end of the scarf - I used a seam ripper to remove the stitching and it left a couple of large holes, but I hand washed the scarf and they are no longer visible. I expected the product info label to be more subtle, sewn on the edge and easy to remove as well. It states that the scarf is made from 100% wool in Inner Mongolia; it states that the scarf can be gently hand washed in cold water, although dry cleaning is preferred. There is no mention of merino wool, but the scarf is similar to my other merino wool products. The packaging (just a plastic bag) of the scarf states that the scarf is made in China, so this discrepancy should probably be sorted out. No matter where it's made I think it's a good scarf although it feels a bit expensive. If you want to give it as a gift, unpack and check it out first. I would also love it if this scarf came in a gift box.
