Good for running but great for walking

I ordered this hydration pack hoping to wear it on my morning runs. I like to run a few miles in the morning and then finish it off with a few miles at my health club on an elliptical. Problem is I hate running with a water bottle but I wish I had a water bottle when I'm at the gym. I was hoping that this hydration system would solve that problem. The hydration system itself is very light. The bottle is actually stable in the hand, although it weighs next to nothing. I also had no problems draining water while running. It has a fairly standard drinking cap. It has a fairly chunky design, but it will still sit on its own. This was important to me because not only did I want to use it while running, but I also wanted to slip it into the cup holder on the elliptical machine at the gym. It has no problem balancing when sitting upright on a flat surface. As far as usage on my runs, I was more or less just "unhappy". To keep it secure while running, I found I had to keep it tight around my waist. Carrying it on the hip was definitely not an option. When I tried to put it on my hips it started to wobble and I had to stop to fix it. I found that it only stayed in place if I put it high on my waist. I was happy to find that even at a decent pace, the water bottle didn't jump out of its holder. There's even a small elastic loop to wear over a water bottle for added confidence. Not sure if I really prefer it for running but I think it's perfect for walking. I also think it would be great to use on shorter hikes if you don't want to use a backpack hydration pack. Overall, I definitely feel like it can have its positive sides. I'm not sure I'll be using it regularly for running, but I would definitely use it for walking. Depending on what activity you plan to use it for, I would definitely recommend it.
