Not for me - ties, cummerbunds and pocket squares

Hmmmm. I don't feel that bond at all. When I saw the photos of the product, I pictured it as a scruffy silk and linen shantung, something like a discount offer from the Drake's of London catalogue. I'm a big fan of structured ties and at this price point I couldn't help but try it out. Tie. well, that's not bad. It's just not for me. If you have experience with regular ties from regular brands, you might like this a lot. My problem is that my huge tie collection consists mainly of Zegna, Luciano Barbera and Brioni so the bar is set quite high and although this tie is advertised as a silk/linen blend it is actually a silk/linen/polyester blend. . . 46% polyester, 42% linen and 12% silk. Unfortunately, it's impossible to make a truly smooth textured tie out of a polyester blend. You can make something that looks sloppy from afar, with skipped stitches and deep texture, but that's just the surface. It has no real depth. However, I love the look of this tie. The color choice is interesting and a splash of orange can add a bit of visual interest to a casual suit, but I can't get past the polyester content.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
