Good price, works, good combo sensor

Short review: Arrived on time, seems accurate, a bit bright on minimum night settings, strong CB/10-METER radio makes the sensor wobble when transmitting but goes back to normal when you release the PTT button. The dimming function is only used to activate the two-stage dimming function "Day" or "Night". Overall this is a good indication of the amount of features it has and I would recommend it to others. Tips: ADJUST BRIGHTNESS FOR DAY AND NIGHT There are 3 levels of brightness for day and night settings. To enter settings mode, simply press and hold the button. It will go to the day setting. Short press "Day 1, 2 or 3" and leave it on the desired number, then press and hold again to go to night settings and do the same. Then press and hold to exit settings. IF YOUR GAUGE IS NOT WORKING If your gauge is not working, the sensors may be plugged into the wrong ports on the back panel. The sensors have the same connector design, so you can install the wrong sensor on the wrong connectors. Because sensors use different ways to communicate information to the sensor, you end up with a sensor that just doesn't respond or doesn't show anything. I did this thinking the sensor was defective. Long recap: I installed it on my trailer's dash along with a temperature sensor on the GlowShift dual inlet. It sits farther from the dash than any of my other gauges, but it's in a spot that gives me clear and often visible access, and far enough away from the other gauges that it doesn't look too silly. I bet most will use it in the "capsule" that comes with it, so it won't matter much to most. The sensor seems very accurate. The movement of the stepper motor is smooth and very realistic, just like a hand needle gauge. The pyrometer's digital output is very sensitive and updates quickly enough to see the exhaust gas temperature when you manipulate the throttle or when the engine is under heavier loads. The boost indicator works quickly and without glitches. My turbo spins very quickly and can go from zero to 24 pounds in a second and the needle changes and the needle moves quickly with no hiccups. Under light loads, when the turbocharger is slowly gaining momentum, the needle is very stable and can make pleasantly slow, smooth movements. However, I installed a temp sensor because I already have a temp sensor, anything you normally have a temp sensor for. I'm going to install a couple of built-in -8AN sensor adapters, one for fuel pressure and a GlowShift wire temp sensor in the other so the temp gauge will give me fuel temp info since I'm a data hunter. The only issue I've had with the sensor so far is that it oscillates when I'm transmitting on my CB radio and it's not a true adjustable dimmer function, just a 2 step day/night. As for the oscillation, I don't know if normal CB will affect the sensor or not, but my power goes up to 250W (normal headroom is around 19W PEP). But as soon as you release the microphone button, everything returns to normal. So it doesn't matter much unless you need to read your meter when you speak CB. The display glass offers a slight magnification, which is nice and the different colors are nice. The brightness is a little too much for me on the lowest nighttime settings, but not terrible, especially with greens or other colors that aren't as harsh on the eyes as blue. This is not an adjustable dimmer. I tracked down a voltage adjustable dash dimmer and used that as a dimmer switch source, but it only switches when the voltage is above or below a certain level, so don't worry about what I did. However, I would like the full variable brightness that comes with the dashboard brightness. The included sensors appear to be of decent quality and have enough cord length to fit in a trailer. Final Thoughts: I like the sensor, the combination of information it provides, the look and feel and the features. It's well priced, came quickly, and GlowShift has lots of adapters, sensors, other sensors, and good customer support. I would recommend. If there are problems, I'll let you know. I buy products based on honest, well-written reviews, so I try to help others by sharing them with others. If you liked this review, could you click helpful so I know I'm not wasting my time?
