Save money and keep your pet's water clean!

I believe in giving my pets pure, filtered water. I have 2 Drinkwell 360 stainless steel systems and replacing the OEM filter with this reusable filter is a plus for me. It also helps me learn more about the condition of my pump and pre-filter without having to disassemble my drinkwell. Normally I would list the pros and cons in my review, but in this case I will only provide what I have learned in case you decide to buy this filter.1. The important things first. If you use a regular carbon filter, that's good. Your animals will thank you for your health and hydration. Some of my comments may apply to you.2. Where can you get activated charcoal? You can find activated charcoal almost anywhere aquarium supplies are sold, including here at Revain.3. How much should I use? I fill my canister about 1/4-1/3 full. If you use too much charcoal, you will need to replace it VERY often. Slime with carbon clogs quickly and you don't have enough pump pressure to push water through the filter.4. How often should I change my charcoal? My Drinkwell 360 are in two different locations. One unit gets dirty quicker than the other and needs more maintenance than the other if I leave it without a full cleaning. I have found that the coal is ready to be replaced when the currents slow. When I pull on the filter, the charcoal sticks together from the slime holding it together. If I change the charcoal and the flow is still slow, the pump and pre-filter also need cleaning.5. Will I save money by using this filter? Absolutely. I buy carbon in bulk to maximize my savings. While my comments on point 4 imply that I don't clean my filters often, I actually change my charcoal weekly and no longer see what I wrote in point 4. For me, a healthy animal is more important than the dollars saved. to take care of her. That's it for this review. I hope it helps.
