It was more important than I thought. My lashes are more visible and look much longer. The glue is a bit difficult to peel off, but I've used it a lot. Given that it's MUCH cheaper than making them, I have no complaints. My tip: I didn't want to do this twice, so I left it a bit longer. I left the perm solution (#1) for 20 minutes and the second solution for 15 minutes. I also made sure to use a thick layer. I used lots of glue to make sure my lashes adhered well. I also let the glue dry before I started. Using lots of glue didn't seem to make a difference - it just needed a little more time and a removal solution. I think poles work best. Initially I put on one of the silicone pads but after looking at it I decided to make the switch. The wands curl all your lashes backwards instead of just curling the bottom part, so they seem more effective. It takes a little time and patience for everything to stick well, but I think it's worth it. The instructions warn that your lashes will stick together, but that couldn't happen, so I wasn't worried and they turned around. everything is OK. I'm probably more comfortable with these things than I should be and definitely caught my eye. It didn't hurt or anything, I just kept some saline eye drops on hand to flush my eyes frequently and keep them from drying out (it's hard to blink all the way with the eyelid taped back lol).
