Review on Chefs Path Airtight Storage Container Storage & Organization best: Kitchen Storage & Organization by Josh Payton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Set is big, strong, seals well, odd sizes

I bought a large set, as I unpacked it my heart sank at the thought that it should all be washed and dried. I have a portable dishwasher and could only fit half containers at a time, not tall ones. So I hand washed them all to get rid of the plastic smell and then hand dried them because I didn't have enough space to cover every inch of the countertop to dry them for the next 4 days. It took 3 thick kitchen towels and some paper towels. Finally it's time to fill them up! I started with my baking cabinet - a standard size over the sink with a shelf in the middle. The large ones didn't stand up and barely fit to the side (the closet door dangled about 1mm). They are uncomfortable on their side due to their odd conical shape and bulky lids. I've never liked 4 snap caps, but sometimes you make adjustments out of convenience. Some size considerations: I placed two bags of brown sugar in a tall container. I put a giant and a half regular bag of chocolate chips in the second smallest container. A 3 pound sack of sugar almost fit in the large one. A standard packet of cornstarch that's 1/4 used will barely fit in a small one. I removed everything I could from my baking cabinet, then went to the snack cabinet and then to the sundry cabinet. I was left with 5 different sized containers and that was after using 2 small lidless lids to organize some of my silicone stretch lids and resealable zip bags. As expected, they dried terribly. Even after leaving it on and then wiping it down with a towel and then a paper towel, water still gets in/around/under the silicone ring in the lid. This is a fatal error and will result in mold/fungus. The shape works according to the height and depth of your closet. The stickers and marker work well but the marker takes forever to dry and mine gets dirty easily if I don't leave it for more than 5 minutes. exfoliation and application. PROFI: Only an organization can help. Reliable and airtight. Comes with everything you need but no extra labels. CONS: Odd shape, drying issue, lid moisture issue, they're not 100% recycled, and they come with an insane amount of plastic waste for packaging. Each container is wrapped in plastic, the marker and measuring cups are wrapped in non-recyclable plastic, as is each individual sheet of labels! This is unnecessary and counterproductive. Update 11/2020: unfortunately they are not as airtight/watertight as I first thought. My sugar and salt are getting hard/hard and lumpy. The caps will come loose if only one valve is unscrewed. I will continue to use them, but I will not get more. I have 9 year old IKEA glass jars with no clamp lids and silicone seals that stay 100% dry and cost a lot less.

Pros
  • Just plus
Cons
  • Will work
