Hello, although they hold heavy materials I have found that they pinch them when working with long nails. However, I would say the bags are strong, I packed metal ferrous material (electrodes) inside. I even used a plastic heat press to seal the bags which seal well when heated. Of course, I bought a plastic heat press separately. There is additional material at the bottom of the bags that separates from the seam to ensure an effective seal when packed tightly. In fact they are slim, they don't look like a tote bag from a grocery store. And they're really long, about 30 inches long.
