Review on Water & Shock Proof Eylar Protective Hard Camera Case - TSA Approved (13.37 x 11.62 x 6 Inch) in Black with Foam by Paul Tilden

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good coverage, terrible foam.

I have two of these cases. One is brown and was sold as a gun case. This one is black, but otherwise identical to the brown one. My experience is the same in both cases. So I'll repeat my review here: I didn't know how many stars to give this case. It has good points and one obvious disadvantage. I'll start with the case itself. The case is very similar to the Pelikan case, which is the brand I compare most cases against. It appears to be made from the same high quality resin or a very similar one. Sturdy handle, the ventilation is almost the same as the Pelican case and the padlock holes are reinforced with metal. The outer case compares very well with the cheaper Pelikan case. That's what caught my attention in the first place. I have problems with the inner foam. The foam is much more brittle than other cases I have in my collection. The foam is a typical foam with two layers of conformable foam, so components of different sizes can have holes to match the depth of the object. After molding the foam into the desired shape and inserting the protected items, I found the foam very brittle. When trying to take items out of their holes, the foam cubes around the edges tended to loosen and want to come out. You had to be extremely careful when removing items from the suitcase. I was trying to find a place to get a new set of foam and redo the setup. I searched for Revain and googled every place on the planet but couldn't find replacement foam for these cases anywhere. Even on their own website. I would recommend if you are interested in one of these cases to see if the case you want is available with padded baffles instead of foam. I have been using these covers since 1980 as a photographer and diving instructor. I have cases from Pelican, Underwater Kinetics/UK, Seahorse, Otter Box and now Eylar. So I have a lot of experience and I know when it's about a product and not just about "me".

Bought this case to store my fishing electronics. Fits 2 Garmon 93sv's perfectly.
