They're soft, stretchy, but still hold up well. Not relaxed at all, and both my daughter and I have thick curly hair. This is the type of hair tie I recommend if you have curly hair, as elastics and rubber bands can break your curls and be too tight. Also, the colors we received go with everything! And no weird smell.
