This camcorder is very funny! First, the price is right! It has all the essential features you need for basic photography, HD video recording and vlogging. After the installation everything went smoothly. I unpacked one of the two batteries and attached it, opened the LCD and the camera immediately turned on and greeted me. The menu button gave me several options and I was able to set date and time, video quality, 4 different effects including sepia tone and whether or not to date stamp my video. I might change a few other features as well. The camcorder screen must be open to access the charging cover and component video output. The included cable uses a special connector instead of the standard mini or micro USB, so you'll need to keep an eye on the cable. I turned off the camera to charge the batteries. Features allow you to show options on the display, turn them off, or completely turn off the display during use! At least externally, the camcorder has the function of a 16x lens part, which is probably done digitally. There was no noticeable noise when trying to zoom during recording, but the zooming happens suddenly, as if it were jerky, like a cool effect, not a smooth Hollywood zoom. In most cases, you'll zoom in before hitting the record button, so this shouldn't be a big deal. The camcorder has some image stabilization, but this feature always seems to be on, or it could potentially help with the zoom feature. And while the product specs and description make it clear, don't expect 1080p Full HD at 30fps. In this mode, the frame rate drops to 15 frames per second. At 720 you can get 30 frames per second. There's also a small LED backlight, but don't expect too much in dark rooms or for it to really add much. However, there is a spot where you can add an external power supply at the top. Photo mode has some advanced shooting options, including anti-shake, smile capture, and face detection. There doesn't seem to be a timer. I haven't used this mode very often. All in all, for the price, this is a great little camcorder considering the price point and the intended market for aspiring vloggers. It's not a GoPro or an action camera and is more suited to a bedroom vlog than a Hollywood blockbuster. However, since the camera feels solid and reliable, it's probably great for kids or teens, or for very basic blogging applications. And since it records to an SD card, you can even use it in situations where you're concerned about damaging your more expensive hardware, and still get out the SD card to burn your footage!
