I am a banjo player with a very heavy instrument and it helps to have a high stool to half-sit on when playing for long periods of time. This stool has the perfect height adjustment for me (I am 5' 10"). It's minimum height also makes the entire assembly smaller for transport. BTW, the seat assembly inserts, but does not lock into the leg assembly so, on the plus side, it can be easily disassembled for transport, but on the minus side, you can't carry it sideways or it will separate into its two parts.
