The picture right out of the box is good. It can get even better with a little play. No dead pixels, glare or weird noises. The screen surface tolerates light reflections well, which is important for a screen of this size. Speaking of size, this monitor doesn't distort colors and has plenty of contrast when viewed from an angle (and you're looking at the extreme corners of this large screen from an angle). In fact, I've had smaller screens with poorer uniformity. A very good buy, especially for the price.
