Order 2 sizes up - clothing

Usually a size 12 or 14. I ordered a size 18 as others have suggested to make up for the gaping buttons. Skirt in a nice shade, perfect for fall, with nice metal buttons and real pockets. Although the skirt is technically too big, if I buy a size 16 it would ripple. The extra large size allowed me to do a quick invisible stitch down the length of the skirt leaving only the top of the button so I can easily slip the skirt on. Since the skirt has belt loops, I just put on a belt to hide it and define my waist. Stretching the skirt is key to making it fit. Overall I'm happy with the skirt, but I would feel uncomfortable wearing it without seams. I also often do this with my buttoned tops to avoid bust tears.
