7 years is almost the maximum age for these hats for a normal sized child. The hats (1 white - 1 brown) appear sturdy and good looking. I don't put them in the dryer because I'm sure they will shrink. and they fit my seven year old grandson perfectly right from the start. My four-year-old granddaughter's pigtail or ponytail also suits her, although she did complain that the hats pulled her hair a bit. Bought her a hat of her own, and you know what, she was still complaining until I put my tail behind her head. So for the price these are great gaming hats that shade the ears well.
