Survived a fall on a rock and 2 days under water

I bought this camera 10 months ago and I use it for fishing so I don't have to worry about it in sand or water falls. So far I haven't had any complaints and the picture quality is very good, but it wasn't used seriously until a few days ago. But I just had an amazing experience so I just had to write a review. I fished from the rocky shore of the bay (it looks like a block of boulders sticking out into the water) and set the camera on some of the rocks. As I reached out to pick it up, I awkwardly knocked it over and saw and heard it fall between the rocks and into the water. At first I thought it was okay because that's why I use a waterproof camera (didn't even consider shock resistance) but quickly realized it had fallen so far in between the rocks that it wasn't visible, and worse off the range. I stood in the water in wet boots and pants for about 20 minutes, digging between rocks and scratching my hands, but I couldn't find the camera. I was very upset because I had just caught 2 species of fish that I had never caught before and those photos were on the camera and also on the SD card were photos of my pregnant wife's belly that we took every week. So it had more to do with wanting the photos back than the camera. I figured my best hope was to come back at low tide with a magnet on a string and see if I could spot it and fish it out. Unfortunately it was Thursday evening and because of work the next free ebb was on Saturday evening. After 2 days of fear I returned to the same spot where the camera had fallen (luckily I scraped the rocks with pliers to find the same spot) and I was happy to see that the water level had dropped significantly . In fact, I was able to stand lower on the rocky shore and look into the gap in the side, and my heart sank when I saw the camera standing there. I could just reach out and grab it (before I couldn't because my head was under water). And the best part is, I was amazed when I pressed the power button and the camera turned on immediately! I did some test shots and everything worked perfectly. What a relief. This is how the camera survived after falling off a cliff and spending 48 hours outdoors, half of them under seawater. Later, upon further inspection of the house, I only noticed a small amount of condensation around the lens and flash area, but not on the screen. After a day of inactivity there is now no more condensation. It goes without saying that I love this camera.

Pros
  • Water resistance 4m
Cons
  • Not bad but...
