My golden retriever has been on a grain free wellness core diet his entire life and recently passed away this month. She was diagnosed with DCM-dilated cardiomyopathy. If the protein in dog food is a plant-based protein such as pea or soy protein, it is due to a taurine deficiency. Legumes, lentils, and potatoes (even sweet potatoes) have also been linked to DCM. Taurine is rich in meat, so why add it as a supplement to this dog food? And it's way down the ingredient list. A tiny percentage in this brand of dog food. So if you love your dog and don't want them to suffer from heart failure, DO NOT BUY THIS FOOD! And research grain-free DCM! By the time your dog starts showing symptoms, it will be too late!
