Great way keep track and manage your data sources
The simplicity of managing my SQL Server instance from one place as well as being able to see what is needed in real time for any queries I run makes it very useful - especially when working remotely or with colleagues who are not familiar with certain features of SSMS/SSIS.
A bit tricky at first getting used to using this tool but once you do, its great! We use OLE DB Source components so we can easily copy over our existing database tables into PowerBI without having to manually upload each table via Excel. This saves us significant amount of time which has allowed me to focus more on other projects that need attention.
Pros
- The ability to create a SQL Server instance from scratch and deploy a database via Power BI is very useful
Cons
- The learning curve is a bit steep at first but once you get the hang of it, its great!
