I have a '96 Ford Ranger and I'm pretty sure it has to do with old internal wiring. It's not very noticeable while driving because the light is dim compared to lights that are normally on. However, the brightness is great! The difference in the cockpit between these and conventional lamps is incredible. It only took a few seconds to pull out the old cover and insert one of these. And value! Eventually I'll do my glove box and license plate lights with it. The great thing about my truck is that it uses the same lightbulbs for everything! :) I could also do the instrument cluster if I wanted to, but they might be too bright for that. Even if you only use one of these lamps, the value is too good to pass up.
