I cannot say without chemically testing this product. it is made in China. But when I opened it I was very disappointed to hear a very strong smell. To me it smells exactly like benzene which used to be used in felt tip pens and the like. Benzene is banned as an ingredient in products intended for domestic use, including toys. Even if it's not benzene, they still smell disgusting, but I suspect they're very toxic. Tried washing it, still smells. I am sending these back!
