Review on Imperial Premium Range Exhaust VT0500 by Daniel Anderson

Top Extractor Hood

I bought these to install with my new Chef PS18 hood. The existing hole in the wall of the old cooker hood for this cover was already the same size so removing the old one and installing this cover wasn't a big deal. This exhaust cap is a premium product, there is nothing cheap about it. The metal is thick, and the length of the square portion of it that runs inside the wall is 10 or 12 inches, which is long enough to go through the thickest wall. I have regular 2 x 4 walls so I had to cut them to the right length with a hacksaw. The painted surface on the head has good paint coverage and is not easy to scratch, it was probably primed before painting. The flap inside is also well balanced, opening slightly in light drafts and closing tight when there is no airflow. Since my new range hood also had an exhaust damper, I decided to remove one of those so the exhaust fans didn't have to open two dampers. I removed one of the hoods and left that in place for three reasons: first, I wanted the damper to be as close to the outlet as possible to keep critters out, and second, if that damper ever gets stuck, I can easily fix it to the outlet of outside where, if the damper is stuck on the hood, it can be quite an ordeal to get there. Third - this damper was the better processed and is likely to remain the more failsafe of the two. Some things I would suggest to anyone installing one of these vented exhaust covers is to use a flap in that cap and remove any other flap in the way e.g. B. the one that may be installed in the hood. I would also put a good coat of durable sealant or silicone around the inside of the galvanized square end of this cover where they join and this slides over the square piece on the back of the hood. This seals the two rectangular parts of the exhaust pipe and prevents grease, smoke or other odors from building up on the wall.
