Bought 2 different tortilla presses from different manufacturers. A comparison to a second tortilla press follows my review of this article. The box that the tortilla comes in is strong enough to hold the item without the box breaking. The instructions and packing materials in the product box have a very professional look and design, just like the box it comes in. All parts are very evenly shaped. The tortilla press plates fit snugly around the entire perimeter, allowing you to make an even, flat tortilla. This is a very well made item and surprisingly it is NOT made in China but in Germany. High quality device. I have no intention of ever attempting to put this in the dishwasher or treat it any differently than any cast iron cookware. The manufacturer can make a small improvement by adding washers between the top plate and where they fit between the bottom plate pieces to prevent the top plate from slipping back and forth easily. That is my only criticism of the product. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this item. Everything Else COMPARISON: Another tortilla press I bought was a Bioexcel 8-inch press. The difference between them is like night and day. An 8-inch Bioexcel tortilla press was packaged in a flimsy food wrap, from which pieces were ripped out because the cardboard was not thick enough to hold the product. The packaging box was not torn. All parts are poorly formed and deformed. It was almost impossible to insert a bolt into the handle. The plates had a very large gap between more than half of the surface, making it impossible to even make flatbread. Some of the dough will be as thick as a tortilla, and the rest will be more like flatbread. Of course, this Bioexcel product was made in China.
