I took these boots new out of the box and hiked a trackless mountain at 5800 feet above sea level for over 7.5 miles. We weaved our way through bushes, murderous hitchhikers, thistles, wild brambles, aggressive rocks and deadwood and branches. After 9 hours they were still in place and my boots were not clogged. My boots are a size 13 and medium height and the gaiters fit perfectly. I had to work a bit to get enough of the bottom strap to get the buckle through, but the buckle only came loose once on the trail, and I think that's because I didn't put the end through the slot provided . . Because these gaiters have a lighter, more stretchy material on the upper, sweat didn't drip down my boot in the 99-degree desert heat. Although the material is a bit brittle, there are a few spots where the lugs dig in where wear begins. This is fully expected. It was no ordinary campaign, but a crucible for them. Will definitely buy another pair when this one wears out.
