They break without much effort.
I prefer cotton swabs (e.g. Q Tips), but Q Tips discontinued them a while ago. There are other brands of wooden sticks, but these bamboo sticks seem to be more sustainable. The size of the cotton swab is smaller than that of the Q Tip, which isn't a big problem. But bamboo sticks break at the slightest pressure. My order came with 6 boxes so I'll have them for a while; but I will not order anymore.
