Incredibly small bright light. High quality in a tiny package!

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this lamp! When I buy lights for my studio, I'm moving toward more specialized instruments in terms of size, convenience, and portability. I already have a Weeylite Ninja 400 and several GVM flashlights and each have their own strengths and features in my kits/setups. I liked the form factor, brightness and elegance of my Weelite Ninja 400 so I was happy to buy its little brother Ninja 200 for my portable needs. Weeylite Ninja series. The Ninja 400 is a rugged, durable flashlight that works reliably with Neewer's large 60-inch softbox. The Ninja 200 feels just as secure with the included softbox, although admittedly it's not as big. In that regard, the mount is a mini Bowens mount, not a full/standard Bowens mount. This isn't a problem as the included VP-45 softbox works well enough for my on-the-go needs. This is a great little softbox with two layers of diffusion that is quick and easy to assemble (unlike my big Neewer 60"). The supports lock and release with a button on the back. The reflector bowl also comes with a mini mount I like that the controller is built into the back of the lantern so I don't have to worry about an extra dangling element, also the AC/DC adapter box is on the wall so only a thin cable goes there when it's on plugged into an outlet. It even includes different prongs to plug into various international standard outlets. I don't have to worry about a dangling controller and large power supply between the light and the wall, which makes installation much easier. But that's not it Best - this light can run entirely on batteries! That one feature has got me more than ever de others interested in this light. The flashlight comes with two NP batteries F970 and a mounting plate that attaches to the side of the light. The plate is equipped with a small bright display that shows the battery level and a DC output for direct connection to a light source. It also has an input/output switch, meaning you can switch from charging the batteries to discharging them in order to use the light. The tablet has a USB-C port for charging, but it cannot be charged while the flashlight is running on batteries. Also, the label doesn't show when the batteries will be charged, the percentage will only increase slowly, so don't be surprised if you don't see a display when you connect the charger. I only tested charging via USB-C, but you can charge via the DC port. The batteries themselves are of high quality and high capacity. They have built-in power meters so you can see how much power is left at the push of a button. You can charge batteries from the plate (or your own charger) as previously described, but each battery also has a USB-C connector for a different charging method. I can't even express how happy I am with this setup. This compact setup, which doesn't need to be tethered to a wall (and the included carrying case), makes it easy to use in the field. One oddity I found was that the batteries continue to power the status screen and will discharge when the lights are off. You should take them out of the plate when not in use. I should mention that you can also use the included grip to turn it into a portable mobile video light. The light controller is simple and easy to use. It has a power slide switch, a button and a mode button. Pressing the dial toggles between intensity and color temperature. With the mode button you can switch between always-on mode (default) and special effects. You can also use the mode button to change channel/group and enter the setup menu. In the settings you can turn the fan on and off and update the firmware via a USB-C connection. Please note that the USB-C port on the light cannot power the light, it is only for firmware upgrades. The built-in bright display clearly shows the intensity percentage, color temperature in Kelvin, group, channel and any special effects. There are 6 groups and 19 channels available. The intensity can be set in the range from 1-100%, the color temperature in the range from 2800-8200K (!) in 100 Kelvin increments. That's a really wide color temperature range - almost as wide as the Ninja 400 (2500-8500K). You can also control the light over Wi-Fi with the included remote control or app (iOS and Android). As with other lightweight apps, the app is installed directly from the APK and not through a certified app store. I'm always a bit nervous about it, but I haven't had any problems. The application is very simple and easy to use. It connects instantly and works well: you can control brightness, color temperature and group/channel. If I had a bigger studio I would use the app more, but for me it's easiest to use a controller. Now that I have a pair of ninjas, I can use them more often because they're pretty handy. Although the Ninja 200 has a fan for cooling, I found it to be very quiet. Even when I was very close at full power, I didn't pick up anything or make any sound when recording my videos. Unlike the Ninja 400, the fan can be turned off. I'm assuming it has heat protection, but I've never gotten it to turn itself off. The brightness is rated at 15400 lux at 1m (at 5500K). It's a bright light, but I don't think it's that bright. Its older brother the Weeylite 400 is a 150w light source rated for 16700 lux at 1m but the weeylite is only 60w and not as bright in my opinion. I wasn't expecting it is so bright, but I still have to do some tests. This light is certainly good for its size, but I don't think it's anywhere near as bright as the Weeylite 400. Regardless, I like the high CRI of 95+ which gives great color reproduction. Looks really good! I have purchased many lights over the past few months while setting up my studio and I am impressed with the quality and value Weeylite has to offer. I was blown away at best by how awesome the battery mounting system is and how bright this thing gets for its size. To me, this is a major innovation compared to other options - a high quality, bright COB light in a tiny package. The wide color temperature range feature gives me the ability to adjust the settings as needed for the shot. In conclusion, I really appreciate the quality, brightness and portability of this flashlight. I see myself using it a lot and I love how handy it is! I highly recommend!
