Review on Ultraspire Momentum 2.0 Hydration Pack - Minimalist 6L Vest with 4 x 550mL UltraFlask (Fluid Capacity - Sold Separately) by Issac Smart

VERY flaws are good for hydration packs

I really wanted this vest and concept to be to my liking but after actual full use in endurance racing and training runs I have to say that this is a serious drawback. Pros: Plenty of storage space, phone pocket is a favorite. Love the large front pockets perfect for another bottle or just storing "things" and it's handy. It breathes and fits well. This is where the compliments end. The bad ones (which make it almost useless for anything longer than a water bottle): The back pockets are in an odd position when walking or standing, their placement causes minimal or no issues, however, after running (and that would be what would have to be done in this vest), that's where the problems start. First of all, don't rely on magnets to prevent bottles from flying out. You are not stable. They kept jumping out of my backpack at the Buffalo Marathon (a great race, by the way). The bungee straps that are supposed to hold them in place fail, constantly slipping and needing readjustment, which is an issue given their position. Finally, where the bottles and bungee cords hit the insides of your hands and can cause irritation, at least if not irritation. For short runs where you can only use the front bottle pocket, this backpack will do... Anything longer is a huge NOPE.

Pros
  • Still satisfied
Cons
  • Fading
