Roof rack different than advertised

I bought this roof rack as an extra to be able to transport a friend's kayak while fishing. Anyway, I didn't like this stand. I liked the price but that's about it. The stand itself is much narrower than in the photo. The picture shows an extended setup with a healthy curve to the J-Stay, but it's actually a cramped, tight space that isn't optimal for my kayak. Also, it's not strong at all on my round bars. Of course, it fits as advertised, but it keeps slipping and spinning on the bars no matter how hard you tighten the screws. This works fine on square bars but not on my round bars. On the other hand, I have a Yakima J-Low as the original carrier and now see that it's worth the extra price. Never had a problem with it. If you're looking for a cheap way to transport a narrow kayak and you have square or flat handlebars, this might work. Otherwise I would have walked by and looked at the products from Yakima or Thule.
