The dress is very pretty cute. I have to say that I bought size M at first but now I'm older and have a small tummy so I had to order a size up to cover me as much as I wanted. If you are skinny it might be ok. My daughters are not overly skinny, but they don't have their mother's excess fat, and it was difficult for them to wrap it all the way around their waists to tie it. The fabric is flowy and light enough to wear as a throw at the lake or the beach. I was concerned about the lace design in the center but it seemed to swing well. The center design makes it cute and sexy, but the downside is that it doesn't stretch. It would be nice if the next version used stretch fabric. All in all it's nice.
