If you look closely at the product description you will see that the light comes from the edge of the strip and not from the wider side like other strips. It's fairly well diffused, but you can see hotspots at each LED position. I'm guessing it has a neon look because it's a steady light, but it's made up of diffused LEDs, so I don't really get the "neon" in the description. I would call this a typical bright white LED color and a standard fairly bright stripe. My end was attached well, but I could see some movement when I pulled on it, so I'd add a few extra if I dunked it in water. Silicone to ensure water resistance. As others have pointed out, the mounting clips really don't fit. They are too wide on the narrow side and too narrow on the wider side to cut. I think you could apply silicone to hold them by the narrow edge if you really need a mechanical method to secure them. The description says they can be cut off but I don't think the cut off part can be used at all. It seems very difficult to access the wiring inside the waterproof case. They seem expensive for a solid color strip but work as advertised. If they give you the look you want, I'd say they work the way you want them to.
