I've never used a beard, only before. This is my first beard since stubble and I've noticed the hair is dry and rough and my face itchy. The oil helped soften hair and reduce itching. I use the oil in combination with the balm. I also bought a wild boar comb. The oil comes with a dropper and I've found about 10 drops in the palm of my hand is enough for my current beard. I think results and amount of oil needed will vary. I like that this oil has a light smell. I bought a balm from the same company.
