(Updated July 2020) The application for connecting this camera to the iPhone has now been greatly improved. The first time requires tedious entry of long passwords, but after that it easily connects to transfer photos over the camera's Wi-Fi network. (iOS 13.6) easy and fast. I'm adding the old review below, but the new app solves all the problems I had before. It took Sony a while to get it right, but now cheers! than from the camera itself. The camera takes great pictures and the slow autofocus is only a minor issue. That's to be expected for a camera in this price range. In any case, if you're looking to connect this camera to an iPhone, I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere, and with good reason. a5000 there seems to be another problem. If I had known it hurt so much, I might not have picked a Sony camera in the first place. I have all updated software for my phone, camera and Imaging Edge app. The iPhone doesn't support NFC, so Wi-Fi is the only way out, and for the first few years that I owned a Sony a5000 (when the app was called "Sony Play Memories" [I think?]) it just worked fine. I had to enter a complex password once, and then every subsequent connection went smoothly. But as of late 2019, Sony changed the name of the app and the ease of connecting to my iPhone was replaced with frustration and a waste of time. Now every time I try to connect to transfer photos from my camera to my phone, I'm prompted to re-enter the long, complex password โ and even then it works less than half the time. If I reset my network connections (remove ALL my Wi-Fi passwords) and restart the phone, it works most of the time, but then when I connect again an hour or a day later, I have to jump through all those hoops again . I am very tired of dealing with this and if you have an iPhone I would recommend avoiding Sony cameras until they fix the problem. (They keep updating the "Imaging Edge" app and have yet to fix my issues, FYI)
