T-slot desk extension are parts that originally came with the Galant desk system which is no longer made by Ikea. They support the end extensions of the table to the main body of the table. They don't look like they're doing much but will definitely help with support. I purchased a Galant table from Craig's List and the owner did not provide those details. When I checked the assembly instructions online and saw that these parts were needed, I immediately ordered them.
