I used them twice snorkeling in Hawaii in late April and early May. They each provided excellent sun protection for 2-3 hours. The problem is that the fabric is so thick that the pants are very difficult to dry in a humid environment. They stayed wet throughout the 30 minute walk from the beach to our condo, while my husband's Speedo rashguard was completely dry during that time. Drain more water and spread them out on a dryer. Despite placing the rack in an air conditioned room under a ceiling fan set on high speed and next to a strong floor fan, I found my pants were still damp after 14 hours. You (and I) smelled like mold all day. It was the same with the other 3 Private Island items I bought. My return period has expired so I'm sticking with the items but I won't be buying anything else from this brand again.
